Dear Brethren,

Again I would like to thank all Brothers and friends who made the transition of officers to 2010 a smooth and easy one.  It is almost overwhelming to have new
tasks thrust upon you, and I am fortunate to have available the counsel of several Past Masters who are willing to give their time and advice.  In particular, R  W  District Deputy Grand Master Michael Sinatra has been most helpful to me and to our Lodge, and we again pledge our support to him for the remainder of his term as District Deputy.  We look forward to his official visitation on April 1, 2010.
While we are off to a good start in this new year, we need to set goals and accomplish them  Everyone’s input is important, and that is why we will dedicate part of our February 4th Stated Communication to this subject.  One suggestion already voiced is to resume periodic Sunday breakfasts.  Junior Warden Jay Obeid has some ideas on how this can be accomplished, but it has to be a team effort.
Another action already partially in place is the streamlining of our Petitions process.  Committee Chairman R  W  Robert  Langford, working with Lodge Secretary W  Jerome Scheib, is already implementing improvements.  The next step after Petitions is Investigations, and we still need someone to head that committee.  Brothers Darold Hurlbert and John Clarke are continuing to serve, and Brother John Lawrence will participate when his schedule permits. We need several more Brothers to involve themselves with visitations one or two evenings each month.
Another task on which we need to focus is the completion of work in our collation room.  Several ceiling fixtures need to be installed or replaced.  We also need to reorganize our storage spaces and balance our operating needs with inventory goods on hand.  Three years ago we spent $300.00 on a phone tree plan that was never implemented.  We need to resurrect that concept to make our communications more effective.  Recently we had a one day notice of a funeral and because of the time limitations, we could not efficiently respond.
I appreciate the confidence in our 2010 budget which was approved in our January 21st Communication.  We will closely monitor our income and expenses
and report monthly results to the Brethren. The only way we will be able to expand our programs and activities in 2010 is to raise new funds through additional fundraising events.
I invite all Brothers to share their thoughts and suggestions with me on ideas that will make Boca-Delray Lodge No. 171 even more successful.

Fraternally, as always,         PLEASE NOTE OUR NEW PHONE NUMBER:
George M. Hervey , 561-367-7724
