As for lodge business, our Brother Secretary, R\W\ David Haycock’s job has been quite demanding of him lately and he knows that he will be away from the Lodge on too many occasions between now and the end of the year.    I wish to thank R\W\ Haycock for all the hard work that he put in as he had two jobs, that of being our DD and Secretary.  Thanks for a job well done.
On another note, with the economy the way it is and the cost of living rising, it is necessary that we discuss the increase of lodge dues to $100 dollars per year.  The average lodge in Florida is at $125.  I will pass out copies of our 2009 budget so that you can easily see what our expenses are and how much we bring in each year with dues, interest on our investments (which you also know has been reduced) and with donations ear-marked for paying expenses.  I know that no one like increases; I also know that Freemasonry is important to all of us and if raising dues by $25 means that we can more easily pay our bills, then we have to consider the increase.  This is a seven cents a day increase.
We have a few new trees planted on our grounds, old ones removed and a magnificent landscape natural rock formation that will incorporate our new mail box.  This was all donated and installed by Brother Scott Durgee.  Brother Durgee was raised not too long ago but it can easily be seen that he has a love for the lodge and Masonry.  We all thank you for your time and efforts in making our lodge grounds look more pleasant.
Congratulations to Brother William Stachel upon receiving his 45 yr pin.  Mrs. Stachel and guests were happy to see him receive it.  Brother Jay Obeid, our JD received his 25 yr pin as well and was equally as proud.
Sunday May 31st Sun Sentinel ran an article about one of our brothers.  Congratulations to R\W \Pieter Van Gunst, he as well as several other soldiers who met for a 50th year reunion of the Counterfire Platoon - 28th Infantry Regiment of the 8th Division.

Fraternally,
Mike Sinatra,
